Outrageous October: What Would Happen If You Went For It?

What if October wasn’t just another month on the calendar, but an invitation to be a bit outrageous?

I first came across this idea from coach Rich Litvin. He talks about giving yourself permission to go bigger for one month, to ask for what you actually want, not just what feels safe. It’s not about being reckless or showy. It’s about daring to step outside the quiet comfort of “fine” and see what might be possible if you stopped playing small.

Dream Big. Do Big.

Outrageous October is about energy, boldness and courage. It’s about saying yes to the thing that scares you a little, or no to the thing that’s been draining you for too long.

  • Maybe for you, being outrageous looks like applying for that senior role you’ve quietly told yourself you’re not ready for.

  • Maybe it’s starting a side project that feels indulgent or impractical, but lights you up every time you think about it.

  • Maybe it’s having the conversation you’ve been putting off, or finally setting a boundary that will make space for you to breathe.

Most of us underestimate how much we’re capable of when we act from courage rather than caution. We wait until we feel ready, certain, confident. But those feelings rarely come first. Confidence grows when we act — even when our voice shakes, even when our hand trembles a little.

Courage

So, this October, what if you chose one small thing to do differently?

Something that feels 10% outside your comfort zone.

Something you’ve been saying “maybe later” to.

And before you think “I don’t have time” or “that’s not realistic,” pause for a moment. Outrageous doesn’t have to mean big. It just has to mean real. Honest. A stretch that wakes you up a little.

If you usually keep your ideas to yourself, being outrageous might mean sharing one.

If you always put others first, it might mean putting yourself on the list - first.

If you usually say yes automatically, it might mean practising a brave no.

Here’s the challenge: write down one outrageous goal for October. Something that makes you smile and squirm at the same time. Then take one small, concrete step toward it this week. Tell someone. Make it real.

And here’s the support: you don’t have to do it alone. Coaching is one of the most powerful ways to turn intention into action - to quieten the noise of self-doubt and find the courage to move.

So - what would make your October outrageous?
