Creativity as Self-Care: Reconnecting with Joy and Possibility
From the moment we draw our first wobbly lines or sing our first ever note, we’re wired to create. Creativity isn't the exclusive domain of artists, it's an innate human gift, and one that we all begin life with. But as years go by, this gift often gets buried under the pressure of routines, responsibilities, and our tendency to move fast.
But what if reclaiming that creative spark could help us thrive?
The Gift of Pausing
When we press “pause,” we don’t only rest, we reconnect. Pausing allows our minds to wander, explore and breathe. In that quiet space, creativity reignites. Connections form, ideas bloom, and a fuller version of ourselves surfaces. Whether it’s doodling, journaling, daydreaming, or walking, intentional pauses can be the catalyst for fresh inspiration and a sense of greater well-being.
Creativity Energises Us
When we tap into our innate imagination, amazing things begin to happen. Creativity can fuel problem-solving, boost mood and sharpen focus. It gives us agency, helping us craft novel solutions, express deeper emotions and rediscover parts of ourselves we thought we’d lost. We can feel more resilient, more joyful and more self-aware.
In exploring our connection to creativity, I’ve developed two group coaching offerings that support transformation.
1. Space to Create
My Space to Create concept is simple but powerful: it offers intentional room for creativity to surface through twice monthly online meet-ups. Through guided prompts and reflective exercises, this space invites us to lean into our creative selves without pressure, but with purpose, and there’s something vital about doing this in community with others from all around the world.

2. Creative Journeys: A Five-Week Course
The Creative Journeys programme builds on the same philosophy. Participants join a supportive small group to explore what creativity means to them over five weekly sessions. The journey maps out a series of meaningful steps, from identifying hopes and dreams, to listening more deeply to our inner wisdom, to confronting self-limiting beliefs. Through creative prompts, group connection, and personalised coaching, participants craft a clear vision and emerge ready to act on their next emerging chapter.

For me, pausing and listening has led me to write poetry, make ceramics, paint, cook, walk, swim, and find countless ways to express myself and contribute. These are all things that complement my coaching, and commitment to living a creative life.
Whether you’re feeling blocked, uncertain where to begin, or simply looking to rediscover a long-forgotten passion, it’s never too late to explore your creativity, and to pause and reflect on what you love.
When nurtured, creativity sparks joy, insight, and forward momentum, often in ways that might surprise you!
