What is Walk and Talk Coaching (and why it works)

Some of the best conversations don’t happen across a desk. They happen while walking.

Walk and talk coaching combines all the benefits of coaching with the restorative power of being in nature. It’s simple, grounding, and surprisingly effective.

Walk and Talk Coaching

When we walk, something shifts. The rhythm of our steps seems to unlock our thoughts. Our attention widens. The pressure to “perform” in a conversation fades away, and what’s left is space. Space to notice, to think, to breathe.

That’s why we offer walk and talk coaching. Fresh Air. Fresh Thinking.

It’s exactly what it sounds like: coaching while walking, usually outdoors, in a park, through the woods, by a river or canal, or simply along quiet streets.

Being outdoors does something that sitting inside rarely does. Nature calms the nervous system. Moving side by side (instead of face to face) can make difficult conversations feel easier. Clients often say they think more clearly, speak more freely, and see their challenges from a different angle.

It can be hard to solve problems whilst sitting at the same desk, looking at the same screen, where they were created.

There’s also science behind it. Studies show that walking boosts creative thinking, supports emotional regulation, and reduces stress. It’s no surprise that fresh air and movement help fresh ideas emerge.

A session might begin with a simple question: What’s on your mind today?
And from there, we follow the conversation, and the path, wherever it needs to go.

Some clients use these sessions to get unstuck with a decision. Others to find perspective when life feels crowded. Sometimes, it’s just about reconnecting with themselves, remembering what matters.

If you’re someone who finds it easier to think while moving, or if you’d simply like to try coaching that feels more natural, grounded, and human, walk and talk coaching might be for you.
